The CENTURION computer system was designed
for use under extreme ambient conditions for e.g. armoured vehicles where space
conditions are extremely restricted. CENTURION
is a powerful system for wheeled and tracked combat vehicles actually integrated
in FENNEK, M113, MLRS-Launcher Upgrade, Leopard II, which allows flexible configuration
and extension despite its small dimensions. The CENTURION
computer system is a ruggedized computer system based on PC technology. Three
optionally configurable PC card slots are available for project-specific functional
extensions /e.g. communications components). The computer has numerous configurable
and externally accessible interfaces for the connection of external equipment
and for connection to the vehicle system Optionally, an externally accessible
PC card slot behind a protected flap is available so that data exchange with other
systems is possible by means of a flash PC card (> 64 MB). By using specific
I/O modules, the CENTURION can be extended
with communication interfaces for use with HF, VHF-Radios as well as specific
Military Wired Networks.
