The networking
of different weapon systems requires stable, interoperable
and real-time-oriented data connections. However,
the different systems normally do not have uniform
computer systems. In order to meet the requirements,
a continuous, universal product philosophy is required
to be able to support the existing systems over
long periods of use and integrate new systems, if
required.
The required marginal conditions are:
- Efficient communications processor
- Independence from the operating system
- Suitability for VMEbus / PC systems (PCI,
PCMCIA, ISA)
- Uniform user interface, e.g. XLI
- Easy portability of the protocols to the target
system
- Good protocol testing capability
ATM provides the KM1 communications processor
for different computer systems. A proven development
tool - the so-called Virtual Automate Processor
VAP - is used for protocol development.
Keyword: Experience in the integration of
tactical radio equipment.
The available communications technology products
allow the integration of military protocols and
commercial standard protocols on an equipment
platform. The use of the IP network protocol opens
up the connections of the military networks with
the internet technology. In this context, we refer
to the MCS 2000 KS communications server.
