Krauss-Maffei Wegmann takes over ATM ComputerSysteme

Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW), Europe´s leading systems company for armoured wheeled and tracked vehicles takes over ATM Computer-
Systeme GmbH (ATM) in Konstanz, Germany, retroactive to November 1, 2001.

With the approval of the acquisition by the Federal Cartel Authority today, ATM becomes a 100% subsidiary of KMW.

ATM´s range of products and services is used primarily in command, control and communication systems as well as in weapons deployment and reconnaissance systems.

The takeover of ATM will thus significantly expand the system competence of the KMW Group in the field of communication, command and control as well as information technologies. Krauss-Maffei Wegmann thus further consolidates its position as one of Europe´s leading systems manufactures of armoured wheeled and tracked vehicles. ATM is already a supplier of key components and development products for the KMW systems PzH 2000 self-propelled howitzer and FENNEK reconnaissance vehicle.

Innovative products for the digitised battlefield of the 21st century, such as the militarised notebook, the COMMANDER, are further key focus areas of ATM´s product line-up. Technologies from ATM will in future be integrated into KMW systems to an even larger extent.

Krauss-Maffei Wegmann has a workforce of approximately 2,300 and, in 2000, turned over roughly 730 million €.
